Arsenal FC: New Boss, Same old Problems.

Interim manager Freddie Ljungberg had limited time to work with his players, having only got the job on Friday morning, so we cannot expect too much, too soon. But I couldn’t say this performance was any better than what we would have seen under Unai Emery.

David Luiz was kept in the team by Ljungberg and he didn’t defend any differently. Shkodran Mustafi was brought in alongside him and he can be a bit of a car crash at times. Calum Chambers does his best at right back but can look like a fish out of water. Sead Kolasinac should not be starting over Kieran Tierney at left back.

Mesut Ozil started — I like the German playmaker — but he struggled to influence the game.

It was left to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to bail Arsenal out with two goals up front while Leno saved their skin at the back. If I was an Arsenal fan, I would have liked to see a better reaction from the team after the sacking of my manager.

Norwich haven’t been in the best form, so they should have represented ideal opponents. The visit of Brighton to the Emirates Stadium on Thursday evening is now a big match. Those supporters will want to see a reaction — and a result.

Namibia: Incumbent Geingob Wins 56.3% of Vote in Presidential Election

Namibia’s incumbent President Hage Geingob won the country’s election with 56.3% of the vote, the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) announced on Saturday.

In second place with 29.4% was fellow SWAPO party member Panduleni Itula, a dentist-turned-politician who ran as an independent.

The leader of the official opposition party, McHenry Venaani, came third with 5.3%.

“I wish to thank Namibians for re-electing me as their president,” Geingog posted on Twitter, promising to “bring tangible improvements in the lives of our citizens.”

The results showed a sharp decrease in support for Geingob from 87% in the previous election in 2014, and his election rivals claimed irregularities in the vote.

Itula and the leader of the Landless People’s Movement (LPM), Bernadus Swartbooi, claimed the election was fraudulent.

Itula wrote a letter to the electoral commission, Geingob and others, urging for dialogue to avoid a “potential national crisis” with devastating effects.

Ahead of the announcement of the final results, Itula, popular with young voters, said there were “unprecedented multitudes of national irregularities” that needed to be addressed.

Meanwhile, Swartbooi was quoted by local newspaper, The Namibian, accusing the electoral commission and SWAPO of rigging the outcome of the national polls.

“Votes were being increased in favor of SWAPO and Geingob and reduced for other candidates,” he was quoted as saying.

SWAPO has ruled Namibia since independence from South Africa in 1990.

Quique Sanchez Flores: Watford manager sacked not less than three months in charge

Watford have sacked manager Quique Sanchez Flores after
Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Southampton, saying “ultimately results have
dictated our decision”.

Chris Hughton is a possible successor and the Hornets said a
replacement will be appointed “imminently”.

Sanchez Flores, who was in charge for the 2015-16 season,
was reappointed on 7 September, replacing Javi Gracia.

But he won just one of his 10 league games in charge with
Watford bottom of the Premier League.

In an open letter to Watford fans published on the club
website, the 54-year-old Spaniard said the club “will always be in my
heart”.

Watford have eight points after 14 games and are six points
from safety – their worst return at this stage of a Premier League campaign.

“Quique is a man of great integrity and it was clear
how much he wanted to have a positive impact, but ultimately results have
dictated our decision,” said chairman Scott Duxbury.

“The appointment of a new head coach is imminent, and
with nearly two-thirds of the season remaining, we will provide all the support
necessary to make the coming months successful.”

During Sanchez Flores’ latest spell in charge, they have
only beaten Norwich in the league, while losing to Wolves, Chelsea, Burnley and
Manchester City, where they were hammered 8-0. They were also knocked out of
the Carabao Cup by Everton in the fourth round.

Since Gianfranco Zola’s exit in December 2013, Watford have
had nine managers, including Sanchez Flores twice.

Fellow Spaniard Gracia had been in charge for 21 months –
making him the first Hornets boss to last more than one full season since Zola.

Sanchez Flores becomes the the third Premier League boss to
be sacked in the past two weeks, following Unai Emery at Arsenal on Friday and
Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham on 19 November.

Watford are in their fifth season back in the Premier League
since promotion in May 2015.

Gracia had led the club to the FA Cup final last season
where they lost 6-0 to Manchester City, as well as 11th place in the Premier
League.

They also reached the FA Cup semi-final in 2016 during Sanchez Flores’ first spell as manager.

PREMIERSHIP: Arsenal FC Chiefs Sack Manager Unai Emery

Unai Emery has been sacked as Arsenal manager after 18 months in charge of the Gunners.

The Spaniard, who previously led Paris St-Germain to the French league title and won three Europa Leagues with Sevilla, was appointed Gunners boss in May 2018, succeeding Arsene Wenger.

He has been replaced on a temporary basis by assistant and former Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg.

Arsenal said the decision had been “taken due to results and performances not being at the level required”.

The Gunners have not won in seven games and lost 2-1 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League on Thursday.

It is their worst competitive run without a victory since February 1992, which was eight games under George Graham.

Former Manager of Arsenal Unai Emery with Arsenal Players

They are without a Premier League victory since 6 October and eight points off the top four.

Ljungberg took training on Friday and the Arsenal statement added: “We have full confidence in Freddie to take us forward.

“The search for a new head coach is under way and we will make a further announcement when that process is complete.”

Freddie Ljungberg takes over Arsenal till Further Notice

On Wednesday, BBC Sport reported Arsenal had identified Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo as a potential replacement for Emery.

Other names linked with the post include former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, Manchester City assistant coach Mikel Arteta, ex-Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri and Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe.

The Arsenal Supporters’ Trust (AST) said Emery’s dismissal was “unfortunate but inevitable” and the “more difficult challenge is to recruit a suitable successor”.

It added: “We are far from certain that Arsenal has the right personnel to lead this process.

“The AST has long been advocating that the most important changes needed at Arsenal are in the boardroom where Arsenal need better governance.”

Arsenal finished fifth in 48-year-old Emery’s first season in charge at Emirates Stadium after he replaced Wenger.

They went into this season having spent more than £130m in the summer after signing winger Nicolas Pepe, centre-back David Luiz, left-back Kieran Tierney, striker Gabriel Martinelli and defender William Saliba, who will join next summer.

The club also brought in midfielder Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid.

They started this season with back-to-back victories against Newcastle and Burnley, but that run ended with defeat by Liverpool, before draws with north London rivals Tottenham and Watford followed.

Their last Premier League victory was a 1-0 win over Bournemouth.

On Saturday, they battled to a 2-2 draw – their sixth of the season – at home to Southampton, with Alexandre Lacazette scoring an injury-time equaliser.

Arsenal have conceded 19 goals in 13 top-flight games this season and former Gunners keeper Bob Wilson said the team’s defensive statistics were “frightening”.

“The interesting thing is every successful side starts with the defence,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Look at Liverpool and them spending millions [£75m] on Virgil van Dijk, who has made their defence solid.

“They [Arsenal] are shipping goals and don’t seem to have any idea of the defensive structure.”

Emery is the third managerial dismissal in the English top flight this season, after Javi Gracia and Pochettino departed Watford and Tottenham respectively.

Arsenal’s last victory came against Vitoria Guimaraes in the Europa League on 24 October, in which they needed two late Pepe free-kicks to secure a 3-2 win.

Malawi : New Female (Kachindamoto) Village Chief Cancels 850 Child Marriages And Sends Girls Back In School

Most people have never heard of a hero quite like Theresa Kachindamoto.

She was the youngest of 12 kids who were descendants of village chiefs who presided over Monkey Bay in Malawi, Africa. When she found out that it was her turn to serve as the new senior village chief, Kachindamoto had been working at a city college for the past 27 years. Once she came into power, she immediately set about bringing an end to the practice of child marriage within her jurisdiction. At first, Kachindamoto did not expect that she would ever have a chance to become chief. After all, she resided in a different town, had many older siblings in front of her, plus she was raising five children.

But, thanks to her reputation as someone who was “good with people,” Kachindamoto came into power thanks to a surprise election. And her people told her that the job was hers “whether I like it or not,” she recalled. And although child marriage is considered culturally acceptable in her area, mainly because of the high levels of poverty, it has also been illegal in her country since 2015. However, this did not put an end to child marriages since young girls could still be married so long as they have parental consent. However, Kachindamoto made up her mind to put an end to the long-standing tradition of robbing young girls of their childhoods by forcing them to marry older men and become mothers before they turn 18.

While traveling around Monkey Bay to meet with the people she was to govern, Kachindamoto met with girls as young as 12-years-old with older husbands and children they were raising.

“I would like to thank all of the journalists who voted for me and wanted me to have this prize,” said Messi after picking up the award in Paris on Monday night alongside his two sons and wife.

“Thank you so much to my colleagues who have actually contributed a lot to this prize. It is amazing, thank you so much.”
